DARL reaches out to community with website
Drummond Arms Regeneration Limited (DARL), the Crieff Community Trust company that was successful in securing the long-derelict Drummond Arms Hotel, says it is continuing to investigate potential options for the iconic building despite the challenges of coronavirus restrictions.
DARL is already working with local partners with a view to developing the building into creative workshop spaces with retail and exhibition opportunities but also wants to hear from other groups that may want to base themselves at the town centre site.
Project development officer Arleen Sinclair explained: “We envisage and believe this compliments the vision for Crieff as a creative and cultural destination where artists, makers and producers rent affordable workshops and can provide craft and skills training on-site to create Crieff as a cultural tourist destination where skills and resources are shared and day-trippers return from the lowlands and further afield to buy specialist Strathearn crafts and art.”
Arleen continued: “Unfortunately, this is a large building and incurs extensive capital costs so we need to reach out to the wider community to see if there are any groups or businesses who can see the benefit to housing their organisation in this iconic town centre heritage building.
“We need to make sure we fill it with projects and businesses which work well together for the town, providing both economic and social benefit.”
A new website has been created - www. drum mond arms regenerationlimited.com - where further details and how to get involved can be found.
Arleen added: “We would like to thank everyone who has assisted us throughout this process and look forward to a bright future of collaboration and vision to regenerate this once much-loved building.”
