Festive fun brings smiles
A crafty festive fun event was enjoyed in Blackford last weekend underneath the Christmas lights to help people get into the spirit of the season.
The artistic talent of local residents and homemade produce was on show as a variety of creative stalls lined the streets.
And Santa hats were also donned for Blackford’s Festive 500 challenge, a one-way walking route around the village.
Prizes were up for grabs for best dressed pet, best fancy dress outfit and the person who managed the most laps.
Katharine Huggett, vice-chair of Blackford Community Council, told the Herald: “The entire event was fantastic – two days of Blackford doing what it does best, being a community and showing how to support each other.
“Over 20 stalls could be found dotted around the community and the one-way system ensured it was possible for everyone to stay safe.
“Alongside the market was the fun run walk using the one-way system as the route.
“This enabled shoppers to add their loop of the village to help amass a staggering 803 miles in two days.
“Many of the walkers dressed the part with fancy dress for many participants, including the dogs who joined the walk.
“Everything from cards to jewellery, beauty products to knitted animals was available to shoppers.
“Many of the stall holders are also part of the Blackford Online Christmas Market on Facebook so if anyone missed getting their shopping done, there is still the chance to order online from local crafters.”
