A feel-good independent movie filmed around the Strath and featuring local people as extras is now available on DVD and BluRay.

Set around the perils of internet dating, GetMeLovedUp.com had the audience laughing out loud when it premiered at Strathearn Artspace last December ahead of being entered into film festivals around the globe.

Written, produced and directed by Comrie man George Carson, of Blazebuster Productions, the heartwarming film was self-funded.

It had always been the retired firefighter-turned-actor’s ambition to make a full-length film.

George told the Herald: “I had hoped to release the film in cinema theatres at the beginning of 2020 but Covid put a stop to that idea.

“I was wondering what to do next, I couldn’t just shelve the film – I needed to get it out and about.

“I was encouraged to send it to Reveel Movies, a new streaming platform for films. The guys there have got great plans for the future and are determined to get high-quality films to the public for free, with no adverts or interruptions during the films.

“So GetMeLovedUp.com has been on the platform since June this year and has been consistently the most-watched film on there. It was the number one watched film for over 10 weeks.”

Biggest audiences for the film so far have been in the US, Canada and Australia.

And Getmelovedup.com has been winning awards at various international film festivals, including for best comedy, best international feature film and best director – as well as scores of special mentions.

George also won the award for best supporting actor at a film festival in New York.

He continued: “I was asked by several people if the film would be available on DVD.

“To be honest, I hadn’t really thought about doing this, but I decided to produce them myself to distribute locally in time for Christmas.

“It is available on both Blu-Ray and DVD with limited numbers of each at the moment, because I have to pay for everything in advance.

“The Blu-Rays are better quality and can be played on any suitable Blu-Ray player or Playstation and Xbox game consoles.

“I had some initial problems with the DVDs but I am very happy with the results now.

“The DVDs should be for sale in Comrie Post Office for only £ 9.99 or you can order from me via my email – Mr.GeorgeCarson@gmail.com – if you would like them posted, with a £1.60 charge for postage.

“It’s something I never thought would ever happen.

“To take an idea in my head and construct a story with characters and situations and then produce it, film it, direct it, edit it, and release to the world has been a very strange experience.

“It has been an awful lot of work and has cost a lot of time and money, but it has been a magnificent experience and I have learned so much from doing it.

“I am humbled when people stop me and speak about their favourite scenes or characters from the film.

“I am particularly grateful to everyone who helped to make the film possible, especially Brian and Katy at the Deil’s Cauldron in Comrie and Delphine at the Lounge in Crieff, where we filmed several scenes.

“We were also supported by Bluebells Florists, who supplied all the flowers for the film, and Strathearn Arts, Galvelmore House in Crieff, Comrie Parish Church and the Rural Hall in Comrie provided excellent locations for filming.”
