Eternally grateful to kind Crieff residents

-

Dear Editor

I would like to thank everyone who assisted my wife, Edna Stewart, after she fell recently in Crieff High Street.

In particular, I would like to thank the lady who very kindly phoned for the ambulance and the local postman for being a friendly face.

Very sadly, she passed away on Thursday, December 10, as a result of the fall.

I will be eternally grateful to you all for the kindness shown to her.

•Muthill Primary School pupils have been working on persuasive writing and wrote articles based on a letter they found from Santa’s elves about the“unsafe workshop conditions”.

The following is an article submitted by the school which brings together their writing:

Dear Editor

Santa’s elves have expressed dissatisfaction in the running of his workshops and their treatment over the last year.

We are writing to inform you of the poorly-handled conditions within Santa’s workshop.

As you will be aware, there has been a pandemic situation across the globe this year

However, it appears that no precautions have been put in place in Santa’s workshop!

Meanwhile, his elves are exhausted, worr ied and outraged and are requesting that procedures are put in place immediately, in line with government advice.

Firstly, there are no social distancing rules and elves have been working together on the one toy at the same time.

As you are aware, this is extremely unsafe due to the high risk of passing on Covid-19, which is very serious.

Furthermore, Santa has not been providing face coverings

At the moment, each elf just has one mask and they have no time to wash them, or to purchase more, because of the long hours required to work at this stage of the season.

As you can imagine, this could also lead to health problems

We suggest that Mrs Claus makes some reusable face masks for the elves.

In addition, hand sanitiser is limited in the workshop which means the elves are not cleaning their hands between the toys they are working on.

In some cases, they can work on 20 different toys a day and each toy can be touched by up to 20 different elves!

This adds up to many hands working on many toys.

Therefore, we urgently ask you to consider writing to Santa to insist that he puts some safety precautions in place.

In summary, a one-metre rule needs put in place, washable face coverings should be provided and hand sanitisers need to be purchased Without this, the lives of the elves are in danger.

In a nutshell, Santa is putting Christmas in danger.

In our opinion, Santa should not be allowed to enter our houses until the matter is resolved.

To conclude, please write to Santa today.

Dear Editor

There is no better place to be at Christmas than rural Scotland.

While this Christmas will be different for all of us, we still expect many to be walking their dogs or exercising in the countryside.

Our message on behalf of farmers and land managers is to enjoy our rural areas but remember to do so responsibly and respectfully. Sarah-Jane Laing, Scottish Land & Estates
