OK given for larger Lang Toon homes bid
Larger homes have been approved on an Auchterarder development to add office or study space for those working from home.
The development by housebuilder Stewart Milne will now include a new six-bedroom style of house in response to a rise in people working from home as a result of Covid-19 restrictions.
The changes were approved when Perth and Kinross Council’s planning and development management committee met on December 15.
A report of handling said Stewart Milne had introduced a new six-bedroomed style of house - the Longrush - split over three levels in response to COVID-19.
The report said: “Particularly, it is considered that this six-bedroom dwelling offers flexibility for dedicated homeworking/office opportunities, which were not previously identified as a customer priority or desire.”
A total of 29 of the 116 approved homes on the site on the north-eastern edge of Auchterarder will alter in size - adding a total of nine bedrooms across the 29 plots.
The changes within these 29 plots include: variations to the style of three-bedroomed homes being built; four-bedroomed homes being replaced by either three-bedroomed or five-bedroomed homes and four-bedroomed homes being replaced by sixbedroomed homes.
Strathallan SNP councillor Tom Gray motioned to approve the plans and said: “It’s simply a rejigging of the area concerned to slightly accommodate more people - presumably reflecting the market of housing these days.”
Strathallan Conservative councillor Crawford Reid agreed and seconded.
The changes were unanimously approved by the committee members.
