Stellar line-up as bands to perform online charity gig

- LYNN DUKE

Talented local musicians are among the line-up for an online charity concert in aid of the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH).

The concert usually takes place in Comrie’s White Church and has raised thousands in the past for the Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s charities.

Comrie’s Kenny Cormack, of the Buchanan Duo, is one of the organisers of the event.

The classical guitarist told the Herald: “We have done the concerts for a few years in a row now.

We have chosen SAMH as we believe mental health is as important as ever

“We’ve done them twice for Parkinson’s and last year at this time of year we did it for Alzheimer’s.

“We will have nine musicians playing in eight different ensembles.

“We will have a bit of everything –

Scottish traditional music, classical, film and popular music as well, and the concert will last about an hour.

“Acts performing are the Buchanan Duo, MacRosty Duo, Simple Strings, Simple Sounds, Forever Strings, William Johnson Guitarist, Kenny Cormack Guitar

and Keagan Le Grange.

“We have chosen to support SAMH this year as we believe, with so many people living in isolation, that mental health is as important an issue as ever.

“The jury is still out on whether it will be premiered on Youtube or Facebook but

all the information on where to watch the concert and how to donate will be on the Just Giving page www.justgiving.com/ fundraising/rachael-smart9.”

The concert begins at 8pm on Saturday, January 23.

Kenny and partner Ola Henszel,

performing as Narnain Duo, were part of Comrie’s online ceilidh on December 31, which was streamed on social media.

Clips from the Shaky Vilage’s Hogmanay show can still be found on the ‘Comrie Perthshire’ Facebook page.
