Awards haul for top Strath resort
Gleneagles Hotel is toasting the new year with 16 new awards
– a record number for the famous resort near Auchterarder.
Despite a turbulent 12 months for the hospitality sector, the team behind the five-star location is celebrating winning best UK hotel in the Condé Nast Traveller’s Readers’ Choice Awards 2020 and best hotel in the world in The Times and The Sunday Times Travel Awards 2020.
The hotel also received AA Hospitality Awards’hotel of the year Scotland award, best golf resort in the world from the The Daily Telegraph and Ultratravel Magazine’s ULTRAs awards.
In addition, executive chef Simon Attridge scooped the hotel chef of the year from The Hotel Cateys.
In other categories, Daniel Greenock won restaurant manager of the year from the Institute of Hospitality and the Academy of Food and Wine Service, and housekeeping supervisor Michal Vilcinsky won the highly-commended award from the Hotel Housekeeping Honours Awards.
Elsewhere, director of agronomy, Scott Fenwick, and golf courses manager, Craig Haldane, picked-up the greenkeeper of the year award from the 59club Service Excellence Awards.
A host of other accolades won for 2020 reflects the hotel’s achievements across categories such as housekeeping, greenkeeping, reception and restaurants.
