FRIENDS SHOW STRATH CARES

Donations of essential household items

- LYNN DUKE

Two kind- hearted Strath residents have teamed up to form a new community group to provide help to those most in need.

Crieff’s Tina McRorie is well well-known in the Strath capital for her role in managing Crieff Community Foodbank.

But she has also been personally supporting families and individuals on the breadline by sourcing essential household goods, furniture and utensils for their homes outwith that role for many years.

And now, with help from her friend Gillian Brock – vice-chair of Comrie Community Council – Tina is aiming to be able to help even more people.

The pair have set up Strathearn Cares and secured storage, which will enable them to provide more muchneeded items on a permanent basis.

Tina explained: “There’s been many a time I’ve had to turn offers of furniture down due to storage limitations. I’ve been wanting to

accept them but it’s a big undertaking.

“But now I’ve teamed up with my good friend Gillian Brock who is joining me in this venture and we have secured storage at Cultybraggan Camp.

“We are now able to accept and store household items along with soft furnishings thus allowing us to help families immediately.

“With these unprecedented times we find ourselves in, more and more people are in need of help and situations are worsening by the day.”

Tina thanked all those who have donated so far. Since putting out a post on social media offers of goods and toys have been flooding in.

Tina added:“Those who use our service are referred to us from various agencies and support networks and we really appreciate all the help we are getting on their behalf.

“Thank you also to Comrie Development Trust, Rev Craig Dobney and the Cultybraggan Men’s Shed, who are supporting us.

“If anyone would like to donate items, we would kindly ask that they are in usable condition and something you would be happy to use yourself.

“We are also looking for volunteer drivers to help move items.

“Contact 07510 626821 if you have suitable items to donate or can help as a driver.”
