Explore your creative side at online sessions

- LYNN DUKE

Those looking to explore creative writing or their artistic side, or who would like to find out more about speaking Gaelic, are invited to a series of virtual workshops on offer at Stathearn Artspace.

Award-winning visual artist, Sarah-Louise Wilson, will cover the skills needed to take your drawing to new levels.

Published author and writing consultant, Tracey Emerson, is heading up the writing workshops.

And Scot AnSgeulaiche will be delivering the Introduction to Gaelic sessions.

The series runs until March 20.

Strathearn Arts development manager, Phil Mestecky told the Herald: “The pilot drawing and writing workshops we put on during the first lockdown proved very popular and we received great feedback from attendees.

“So, when the next lockdown came along it just made sense for us to offer them again.

“This time we’re excited to be adding a new workshop series giving a first introduction to the Gaelic language that’s all around us in the place names of hills, lochs and villages of Perthshire.

“All these workshops are a great way to make use of all the extra time we have to spend at home these days, keep developing our creativity and, albeit online, meet new people”.

Meanwhile, The Toilet Roll Sessions can still be found on YouTube.

Using everyday materials, the fun and creative make and play classes were developed for children and their adults during the first lockdown by community artist and illustrator Jon Bishop, aka The Grey Earl, and his daughter Averie.
