Masons step in to help

- LYNN DUKE

Strathearn Cares took delivery of three pallet loads of bedding, storage units and other household items recently thanks to Scotland’s masonic network.

Comrie’s Peter McRitchie of the village’s Lodge St Kessac 269 contacted his Broxburn brethren to see if they had any suitable items which could be donated to the local good cause.

During the pandemic Broxburn lodge, Buchan St John 636, has been giving to local food banks in their area.

And members also recently received three trailer loads of goods, which they have been distributing across Scotland under their National Covid Care initiative in conjunction with other lodges throughout the country.

Gillian Brock and Tina McRorie were delighted to take delivery of the donated items for Strathearn Cares, which is helping support individuals and families in need.

Gillian commented:“I was contacted by Peter McRitchie offering goods that are donated to the masons to distribute to worthwhile causes. We were delighted to accept them.

“And a big thank you goes to Ian Reid

as well, for his forklift help in getting the items unloaded.

“We can’t do this without the generosity of other people.

“Tina and I get thanked for setting up Strathearn Cares, but we couldn’t possibly do it without the help of all those who answer our appeals and come forward to offer their services voluntarily.

“From those who help with donated items to those who, for example, build up beds for us and all the many other tasks that we have been helped with - thank you.

“It’s early days of Strathearn Cares but we have been blown away by how the community is getting behind us.”
