Private donor bails out flyer ‘admin error’
A development trust has sought to rectify what it is describing as an “administrative error” which resulted in paper flyers and details of its community action plan review being distributed to households in Strathearn instead of another part of the region.
The information was due to have been distributed to households throughout Blairgowrie and Rattray last week.
However, only a small number were delivered in east Perthshire, with the rest going to communities in Comrie, Crieff and Madderty.
And the cost of rectifying the mistake is now being covered by a private donor.
A Blairgowrie and Rat t ray Development Trust spokesperson said: “An administrative error was made in the Post Office application form concerning postcode data for the distribution of the community action plan marketing flyer and survey form.
“While every effort was made to stop the distribution, it was not possible once the wheels were in motion.
“Some flyers were delivered to the Blairgowrie and Rattray area.
“Unfortunately, a large number landed across Strathearn.
“We received numerous queries and responded personally to each one.”
The spokesperson continued: “We have arranged a suitable alternative method of distribution via the delivery of the Trust’s Hub magazine, which is hand-delivered to households across the town.
“This will take place in late May and will ensure the great majority of households in the town will have the survey delivered through their door.”
The community action plan was initially drafted three years ago following a £ 40,000 consultation in the town led by the then community council.
However, the document has since been described by BRDT as “limited in its remit”.
The review is being funded by Perth and Kinross LEADER, Perth and Kinross Council and supported by STAR Development Group and Blairgowrie and Rattray Development Trust itself.
The Trust representative added: “We are mindful that public funds were invested in the printing and distribution [of the flyers].
“A private donor has offered to refund this cost and to ensure the CAP review stays on track.”
