‘Action plan’ to map future vision for Crieff
A new five-year vision for Crieff is to be unveiled at a special open day next week.
The wide-ranging Crieff Community Action Plan will be formally launched at an event on Saturday, September 25, at 2pm at Strathearn Arts in Comrie Street.
The action plan covers the period from 2021- 26 and is a renewal of a 2013-18 version, with work continuing towards achieving the original identified priorities and actions that are still relevant today – as well as exploring new areas which is hoped will benefit the town.
Preparation of the document was organised by the Crieff Community Action Plan Steering Group, which included representatives from Crieff Community Trust, Crieff Community Council, Crieff Connexions, Crieff Community Garden, Logos Youth Project, Creative Crieff, Strathearn Arts, Crieff Succeeds, Remake Scotland, Crieff and Strathearn Museum, Live Active Leisure, local councillors and other representatives of Perth and Kinross Council.
Seven key themes have been highlighted following a consultation process which included a survey and what organisers describe as “stakeholder interviews”.
The themes include community; facilities, activities and events; local economy; town appearance, environment and heritage; sport, health and wellbeing; access to services and transport, and traffic management and pedestrians.
A spokesperson described the upcoming launch event as a chance to “collaborate and get support” as representatives from many local groups will be in attendance.
The same launch event will also include the unveiling of ‘Uniting Crieff’, described as a community website featuring an interactive database of local services and groups which also doubles as the online home of the new community action plan.
In addition, those behind it have said plans are in place to organise a quarterly forum to coordinate bringing the ideas enshrined in the action plan to fruition.
It is understood the regular meetings are to be called the ‘Uniting Crieff forum’.
