Trio in running for hospitality honours
Three restaurant staff from Gleneagles Hotel have been shortlisted as semi-finalists for the Young Chef Young Waiter UK 2021 awards.
Liam Smith is up for Best Young Chef of the Year, with Hellie Honney and Martin McRae up for the Best Young Waiter of the Year accolade.
The 20 UK semi-finalists for the competition were chosen by leading figures from the hospitality industry, with the 10 chefs and 10 waiters to compete in Dubai at EXPO 2020 on November 15-16.
The winner will be announced on November 16.
The finalists submitted a video entry and questionnaire which was assessed anonymously by a panel of judges.
Chair of Young Chef Young Waiter, Robert Walton, said: “We are just weeks away from taking the most talented young chefs and waiters in the country to compete at Aloft Dubai Creek with the winners to be announced at the UK Pavilion at Expo 2020 in Dubai.
“I’m so excited for our semi -finalists to experience the world
stage and put UK hospitality in front of a global audience.
“Young Chef Young Waiter was designed to nurture the next generation and we hope this opportunity can boost the careers of all our participants through this
experience.”
