Crieff side ‘joy to watch’

- SPORTS REPORTER

The Crieff Juniors 2008 side were in action recently against Blairgowrie at Strathearn Community Campus.

It was second against fourth prior to the match which the Strath capital lads won 10-1.

The game was played in bright sunshine after the early morning downpours.

The home side started in reasonable fashion and pressed the visitors from the start.

On 10 minutes Crieff took the lead when George weaved his way along the 18 yard box to tee-up Fraser to rifle home from 16 yards.

The away side quickly levelled though as their dangerous number 12 broke a couple of tackles to slide the ball home past Finn.

Crieff soon regained the lead when more wing wizardry from George set up Sparky, who finished well in front of goal.

Midway through the half Lochie made it 3-1 with a cracking shot from 20 yards.

Robbie then send George clear and the winger found the corner of the net to extend the home sides lead.

Two minutes before half-time Crieff struck again.

Good passing and build up play found Sparky who’s slide rule pass send Alex clear.

He steadied himself before calmly slotting in number five.

Crieff were 5-1 to the good at half-time and the second period had barely got going when Crieff made it six.

Subs Lewis and Archie combined well for the latter to score with a neat finish.

Lewis then set up Ruaraidh, who finished well on the angle with a shot into the far post.

Six minutes later and the wing wizard George was at it again.

He picked up a pass from Aaron before ghosting past two Blairgowrie defenders and scoring from a tight angle.

With eight minutes remaining Crieff scored again.

This time is was Alex doing all the spadework then squaring for Brodie Rae to score.

Just before the end Crieff moved into to double figures and again it was terrific build-up play.

Alex bombed down the right and slipped Sparky in.

He took the ball on and made for the by-line before squaring it to Archie who slid it home from six yards.

A club spokesperson said:“The boys really are a joy to watch at times. The passing, movement and work rate was top drawer.

“We knew Blairgowrie would be a tough physical team but they struggled to lay a glove on us at times due to our rapid movement.”
