Theatre’s Saints Team Talks are champion

Live events continue with more top special guests

- MATTHEW GALLAGHER

Perth Theatre has hit the back of the net with their series of exclusive St Johnstone-related Team Talk Live evenings.

But football fans and the wider public remain in for a treat with a number of events still to kick-off in the coming weeks.

On Friday, November 5, fans can hear from Saints historian Alastair Blair about creating books Manifest Destiny and Hagiography, his all-time best Saint as well as his own fan memories.

Everyone’s favourite football podcasters, Sam Miller and Danny Williams from Dogger Saints, will then reveal their favourite games and guests on Friday, November 12.

Scottish Cup- winning stars Steven Anderson, Chris Millar and Frazer Wright will be in the Fair City on Wednesday, November 17 to discuss their career highs and lows and, of course, that unforgettable day in May 2014.

Tickets for each Team Talk Live include a Murrays Bakers pie and a pint to get into the spirit of the evening. Each discussion will end with a question and answer session with the host and the chance for the audience to share their own stories.

Katie Mitchell, outreach producer for Perth Theatre, said: “We are very excited to have Team Talk Live in Perth Theatre.

“Back in the spring we were only able to offer this online, so it will be great to have Saints fans in our building together to share stories and memories of what it means to be a Saintee.

“It’s been such a fantastic year for the club and we are so pleased that so many St Johnstone fans will be joining us, but are also equally excited to hear from explayers. All of this is part of a wider project where we aim to create a play about the club and its fans.

“We hope that fans can also appear in the play as part of the chorus and more info will be coming out about this in the new year.”

The sit- in sessions, hosted by broadcaster Stuart Cosgrove, have proved a success so far with large crowds pitching up to hear the unique experiences and stories.

The talks kicked-off in Perth Theatre’s

Joan Knight Studio on Friday, October 22 when Ormond Boys John Connolly, Henry Hall and Gordon Whitelaw relived some of the triumphant wins they achieved during the golden years of Muirton Park under Willie Ormond.

Sports broadcaster Eilidh Barbour shared her memories of growing up as a St Johnstone fan and how this influenced her own career in sport on Monday, October 25.

And former MSP now CEO of Scottish Women’s Football and life-long Saintee, Aileen Campbell, teamed-up with former St Johnstone FC women’s captain, Jade Greenshields, to entertain crowds on Friday, October 29.

For tickets and information about the remaining nights, see www.horsecross. co.uk or call or visit the Horsecross Arts ticketing team at Perth Theatre between 10am and 4pm from Monday to Friday.
