Crieff at Christmas market is back in square this Saturday

-

Members of Crieff at Christmas, the group responsible for the town’s festive lighting displays, are looking forward to hosting their Christmas market in James Square this Saturday.

From 11am there will be the chance to browse a selection of stalls and enjoy some entertainment.

John Gauld, chair of Crieff at Christmas, told the Herald:“We have around 19 vendors selling crafts, goods and quality foods, and we will also have Jason the amazing juggling jester there to keep us all entertained while the market is in operation.”

John said there will be no official Christmas lights switch-on this year but all the displays are in place and the town’s two Christmas trees are up.

He continued: “The lights are up and they will be switched on on Saturday. Thank you to our tree sponsors RTS.

“I hope we will be able to get back to our usual Christmas switch-on event. Maybe next year. We are still being cautious in line with everybody else. I think Perth have done the same. I think we all just want to keep crowds to a minimum and the only way to do that is by not having a ceremonial switch-on.”

And Crieff at Christmas was given a lift this week when it was named as one of the recipients of the Co-op Community Fund.

John added: “Crieff at Christmas is very grateful to and wishes to thank Co-operative Stores and all Crieff Co-op members for choosing Crieff at Christmas as their local good cause resulting in the fantastic total of £5,222.89 being donated towards Crieff’s Christmas Lights.

“Our group looks forward to being able to invest this sum into making Crieff a brighter place to work, rest and play in the year ahead and in time for Christmas 2022. Thank you all.”
