LUCKY 13 FOR CLINCAL VALE

Club makes short work of opponents in cup tie

- SPORTS REPORTER

Vale of Earn scored 13 goals for the second week in a row during a resounding cup win on Saturday.

Dundee amateur outfit Cannon Fodder were the visitors to Market Park for the North of Tay tie.

Vale took the lead after just five minutes when Lewis Young beat his man before squaring the ball to Kros Brown to tap home after good work by Jack Simpson.

The hosts increased their lead with 12 minutes gone when a Brian Finlay corner was well headed into the corner by Simpson, who leapt above his marker.

A Vale third came courtesy of an own goal after good work down the right from Kai Brown.

On the half-hour mark a ball out from the back from Ross Brock found the feet of Kros Brown, who turned the ball over the top for the hard working Paddy Ward.

Ward dinked the ball over the keeper for a lovely finish.

It was 5-0 five minutes before half- time when an Aaron Dawson free-kick was volleyed across goal by in- form Euan Carter and tapped in at the back post by Kros Brown.

Two more strikes followed prior to the break, the first when a Young corner was headed home by skipper Brock.

Kros Brown rounded-off the scoring in the first period when the ball was laid on a plate by Simpson after more good work by Ward.

Seven-nil to the good at the break, it was 8- 0 to Vale in 55 minutes when Young finished well at the back post after a scrappy goalmouth scramble.

It was his first goal for the club on what was an impressive start for the youngster.

Kros Brown grabbed his fourth of the day after good work out wide from Ward and an assist by Carter .

Carter grabbed another assist just minutes later when he made a yard of space for himself to allow a deep cross to the back post for Kros Brown to head home and grab his fifth of the game.

Vale’s 11th goal, in 82 minutes, was probably the pick of the bunch and came when Josh Roberts played a lovely ball into Ward.

Ward controlled before sharply laying it off to Fraser Gillies, who drilled home from the edge of the box.

The host’s final two goals came from Roberts, who kept up his incredible goals- to- minutes ratio so far this season.

The first was a neat finish from a tight angle and the final goal of the game was a good team move, rounded off by Roberts.

Vale progressed to the last 16 of the competition and kept their first clean sheet of the season.

Keeper McKay was praised alongside the solid back three of Stewart, Brock and Simpson.

Although Car ter and Kros Brown were both impressive, Vale’s man of the match was given to Simpson – who was excellent at the back and effective going forward.

The club later thanked Davie Speirs at The Station Bar for excellent hospitality after the game.

Vale are due to be up against Burrelton away in the league on Saturday.
