Strathearn Herald

Grateful thanks to those who have provided Warm Spaces

Strathearn ward independent councillor Rhona Brock

As we are about to come to the end of 2022, I look back and reflect on the work that has been carried out within Ward 6 Strathearn.

I feel Strathearn is very fortunate to have three community councils, those being St Fillans, Comrie and East Strathearn, who work tirelessly for their communities.

Unfortunately Crieff at this present time does not have one. However, this will be something that will have to be looked at early in 2023.

I would like to add that, sadly, the past chairman, Harry Thomason, passed away in November. Those of you who knew Harry will know that he dedicated his time to Crieff and will be sorely missed.

This year also saw the instalment of the first camera for the CCTV in Crieff, which is now up and running giving good coverage within the James Square area.

It is hoped that, once the Wifi connection is suitable, that further cameras will be installed within the town.

The roadworks that were to be carried out at Gallowhill/North Bridge Street have been put back until the elected members meet with officers.

They will be looking to

consult on the best solutions with the least disruption to the businesses and road users.

The Shaky Bridge in Comrie and the Crieff to Comrie footpath discussions are still ongoing.

The extended footway along Broich Road in Crieff has now been completed and it is hoped that the addition to this will extend from Broich Road up to Pittenzie Road early next year.

At the same time, the road at the junction of Pittenzie/Broich Road that has been an issue in terms of flooding for some considerable years will also have work

carried out at this time.

This winter is going to be difficult for many with the cost of fuel rising dramatically and I would like to thank the many organisations within my ward that have opened up Warm Spaces for those that may want to visit. They can be found on https:/www.pkc.gov. uk/warmspaces.

Lastly, I’d like to say a huge thank you to every group, organisation and community council which work voluntarily and tirelessly for the benefit of Strathearn.

It is very much appreciated.

I wish you all the very best wishes for the festive period and good health for 2023.
