- ROBBIE CHALMERS

Ca p e d h e ro e s , masked villains and iconic figures from a galaxy far, far away will be beaming back into the Fair City once again this year for the return of the hugely successful Per th Comic Con.

Organiser Big Glasgow Comic Page recently announced the return of the cosplay and comic book celebration on August 5 at the Dewars Centre.

Attendees were said to be “thrilled” with last year’s event, which saw hundreds of colourful characters finally delight after two Covid- related cancellations.

More than 70 traders set up stalls selling comic books, graphic novels, signed and graded books, independent comics and artwork to fans.

Funko pops, props, action figures, anime, trading cards, clothing, and Dungeons and Dragons items were also available.

Special comic guest writers and artists also attended, alongside workshops, gaming stations, other guests and cosplayers.

Comic fans could be seen enjoying the day dressed up as their favourite characters including Iron Man, Batman, SpiderMan, the Transformer Bumblebee, Pikachu, the Ghostbusters, as well as a variety of Star Wars and Star Trek favourites.

And this year BGCP is promising “more” is in store for those loyal fans and newcomers alike with further details on who and what will be making an appearance to be revealed in the coming months.

A spokesperson said: “BGCP once again brings Comic Con back to Perth after our massive first event at the Dewars Centre.

“We’ve spent the time since acquiring more of your favourite heroes and villains for meet and greets, more interactive props, more consoles and arcades as well as lots of new talented traders.

“We’ll be releasing details of what and who will be at the event as we get closer to it.”

Already available to pre- book are ‘ Make your own superhero mask’ and ‘Make your own slime’ workshops.

‘ Jurassic Class’ is also inviting dino-lovers to an “experience 65 million years in the making” where people can learn about the creatures that once ruled the Earth, and have the opportunity to get their hands on real dinosaur teeth and other fossils.

Tickets for Perth Comic Con 2023 can be bought via the BGCP website.
