Groups invited to apply for a funding boost

Crieff Round Table issues an invitation

- JOHNATHON MENZIES

Strath locals have been invited to apply for a potential funding boost from a popular volunteerled charitable group.

Crieff Round Table regularly supports a number of good causes in the area, as well as organising several local events and providing social opportunities for its members.

And applications are still being accepted from individuals, groups or charities ahead of the latest round of donations being announced.

The latest recipients are set to be revealed in the week leading up to this year’s Crieff Round Table AGM, which is due to take place on Saturday, April 2.

Crieff Round Table’s Barrie Chiverton said: “We’ve managed to do some fundraising since the Covid restrictions eased and we’re encouraging people to get in touch so we can decide who to make donations to.

“There’s no limit on the amount we can donate as such, but it ranges from, say, £100 to about £500 – but we’ve donated more than that to some things before, as much as £1000 a couple of times.

“It depends on the circumstances and how many applications we get, but it’s always to what we feel is a local worthy cause and in the best interests of the community.”

The group is open to men aged between 18 and 45 years and is always on the lookout for potential new members.

Barrie continued: “We were pretty low in terms of numbers at the start of the Covid period but we’ve bounced back up and we registered 19 members at the start of last year.

“We’ve got about 12 active members just now, but we’re always on the lookout for more people to join in – the more people the better.

“We are all volunteers so if we can spread the tasks out among us it makes things easier for everyone.”

Barrie concluded: “The AGM will be on Saturday, April 2, but we try to collate everything by the Tuesday beforehand.

“Anyone who has previously received money from us is welcome to get in touch again.”
