An upcoming showcase for talented local dancers has received significant backing in advance of the event.

Members of KG Dance are set for a deserved spell in the spotlight during ‘A Night at the Movies’, which is due to take place at Strathearn Community Campus in Crieff on April 7 and 8.

Approximately 200 dancers will be involved as part of the event, both boys and girls aged from as young as three to 16 years, all drawn from Auchterarder, Crieff, Comrie, Madderty and the surrounding area.

Ahead of the event, a well-attended bingo tea was held at the same Pittenzie Road venue on Friday, February 17, to help raise funds.

And delighted organisers have revealed that more than £1000 was raised on the night.

Kirsten Brock, of local group KG Dance, said: “With over 100 people attending on the night we managed to raise a fantastic £1054, which will go towards purchasing costumes for the local young dancers involved in this year’s showcase.

“There are approximately 200 dancers taking part and the funds raised will go a long way.”

Kirsten continued: “I would like to thank everyone who donated prizes for this event and to those who attended and helped to raise such a brilliant amount.

“Special thanks should go to those who helped on the evening to make sure the bingo tea ran smoothly – including Roy MacDonald for calling the numbers, Rhona and Iain Brock who kindly donated the bingo books and Tayside Contracts for the catering.

“Thanks also to all of the local businesses who kindly donated prizes for this event – Marra Hair & Beauty, Victoria Bloom, Copper Blush Beauty, The Steading Courtyard, Strathearn Arts, The Scottish Deer Centre, Hair by Carrie, SJP Beauty, Crieff Highland Gathering, Erin at Coco Belle, Cheeky Monkey’s Nursery, Central Fish and Live Active Leisure.”

Tickets for the upcoming showcase are now on sale, priced at £10 for adults and £5 for children.

Both evenings get underway from 6.30pm, with the doors opening at 6pm.
