Community council organising public gathering
A public meeting dedicated to discussing matters in relation to road safety is to be held in Crieff later this month.
Organised by Crieff Community Council, the event is to be held from 7pm on Tuesday, November 14, at Strathearn Community Campus.
Crieff CC has said that “all principal parties” should be in attendance.
Brian Wilton, chair of the volunteerled group, said: “Very obviously there will be many questions from the community on a range of road safety matters.
“Where our children and elderly are concerned passions may run high and, to ensure all voices are heard, we think it might be helpful if those intending to ask a question submitted it to us in advance.
“We could then call on them during the meeting and make sure they are given a fair crack of the whip.
“Of course, that doesn’t prevent anyone asking questions during the meeting, but it would help to deal with matters in an orderly way.
“We look forward to a large attendance since this is a rare opportunity to thrash out quite a few road safety and traffic issues.
“Our email is criefftoun@gmail.com. Anyone who doesn’t have access to email can call 07874 774464.”
The upcoming road safety meeting will be preceded by the next normal meeting of Crieff Community Council, which is to be held from 7.30pm on Thursday this week at Strathearn Community Campus.
A Crieff CC spokesperson continued: “As always, interested members of the public are invited to attend, hear what progress the community council is making on various issues and have a say in the affairs of Crieff. As usual, a tree will be planted for each member attending.
“Road safety matters will doubtless be touched on but the importance of the topic is such that there is now a dedicated meeting on November 14 when all principal parties should be in attendance.”
Meanwhile, details of an opportunity for businesses to advertise within a new app launched by Crieff Hydro Hotel have been released.
The Crieff CC representative added: “If there are any retailers who haven’t received those details, they can contact us at criefftoun@gmail.com.
“Many of the shop letterboxes are at ground level and are a bit like mantraps, so the details could be scrunched-up on the shop floors.”
