Take advantage of artistic trail
Strath residents have been encouraged to take advantage of the Perthshire Creative Trail as Christmas approaches.
The project, which launched this year, brings together 15 galleries and 32 artists’ studios allowing people to meet and chat with artists and makers who create everything from jewellery, textiles and sculpture to paintings, pottery and willow work.
One of its key aims is to encourage visitors to enjoy the many other attractions of Perth and Kinross, including its wonderful walks.
Heather Budge- Reid is chair of Perthshire Open Studios, which set up the trail and also runs the annual
Perthshire Open Studios Festival.
She said: “The Perthshire Creative Trail is a year-round way to enjoy the very best of Perth and Kinross – its creative community and magnificent countryside.
“All seasons have their own beauty, whether it’s from the gold of the autumn trees, the snow-capped winter mountains, or the wonderful greenery and abundance of spring and summer.
“And when it comes to Christmas shopping the trail offers a much more enjoyable alternative to trawling the internet or tramping up and down overcrowded high streets.
“You can escape the hassle and get out into the countryside, take a walk in the woods, up the hills or along the loch sides as well as visiting studios and galleries to find imaginative gifts that family, friends and loved ones will really appreciate.”
The POS website has been designed to allow people you to plan a day out by arranging visits to studios and galleries while combining this with a variety of walks, some of which include a strong arts element.
The Perthshire Creative Trail is made possible with the support of Perth and Kinross Council, UNESCO City of Craft (Perth) in addition to POS.
