Once you’ve bought one of these grand, shiny boomboxes and given it pride of place in your home, you’re going to have to sit down and make a list. Stick some music on while you do it. At the top of your bit of paper write “My new speaker can upscale 8-, 16- or 24-bit music to 32-bit”. Then underneath, in two columns, list those of your friends who will say “Wow, yeah, it sounds great” and those who will go “And you believe that, do you? Ha.” Stick the list in your pocket, and adjust your introductions to suit. Or, just don’t let the second lot in. Who wants a load of audiophile snobs in their home anyway?
