One doesn’t really want to go ‘somewhere’ on holiday. It’s all one can do to remain the right way up in one’s own town! But a cruise, now that seems like a controllable experience. After input from Deloitte, HP and Samsung, MSC Meraviglia – launching in June – will be fitted with 9000 tonnes of electronics. All guests wear a Bluetooth/rfid bracelet which, through interactive screens or an app, allows one to locate oneself (or one’s irksome children) in an instant. Dinners, shows and excursions can be booked without talking to a single person. Bliss.
