Interface and online

The Switch’s operating system gives you a series of large tiles to choose a game from. It’s a neat, uncluttered setup that’s quick to work around.

The console’s online service, on the other hand, is a bit of a shambles. Streaming apps such as Netflix and Amazon Prime are currently absent, while voice chat is expected to be introduced via a mobile app in the future.

And while online multiplayer is currently free, Nintendo is planning on introducing a paid subscription later this year. Whether Nintendo’s updated online service will be any good remains to be seen, but for now it feels like a mess.
