QYou can now search for and download apps right from the watch, and type in search terms on a minuscule virtual keyboard. But typing on a 1.2in screen can be a will-draining experience.

Notificati­ons are much less annoying. Post-its have been replaced by plainer notificati­ons, and you can choose whether they pop up until you read them, appear for five seconds or not at all.

QPreviousl­y, most Wear apps of any substance have been little more than second screens for the version on your phone. With Wear 2.0, the likes of Runkeeper and Strava can now run independen­tly.

The new Google Assistant is packed into this OS. It’s meant to be a wrist version of the Siri-a-like introduced with Google Pixel phones. It’s nowhere near as cool as Amazon’s Alexa yet, though.
