Welcome

Most months I write this letter while huddled away in a Twickenham office corner with rain lashin a ainst the windows. Ri ht now, I’m in sunny LA for the E3 ames conference and thin s are infinitely more cheery. Not only have I witnessed the launch of the Xbox One X, a 4K console that blows Sony’s PS4 Pro out of the water, but I’ve never been to the City of An els before and there’s a load of stuff I want to see – and I’m not just talkin about Forza Motorsport 7. Trouble is, I’ve only brou ht my iphone alon with me for the trip. It’s a ood thin , then, that this month’s cover feature is all about takin reat pictures with any camera.

You see, the key to a ood photo is its composition – not whether you took it on a Canon, a Fujifilm or a Samsun Galaxy S8. If you have the knowhow, that perfect shot is always in reach. So from food snaps to wildlife photo raphy, this issue has the kit and tips to elevate your summer holiday pics to the next level.

Elsewhere we’ve ot an exclusive look at the Oneplus 5, successor to what we called the ‘best phone ever’: the Oneplus 3. Our full review is on p61 – no spoilers, but I think you’re onna be tempted. The one sli ht pity? We’ll never et to see a Oneplus 4, as its name rou hly translates as ‘Oneplus death’ in Chinese. Which, come to think of it, would be a reat name for an LA hair metal revival band…
