This month’s mobile must-downloads
1 NOISE
£free / Android Got a Galaxy S8 or Pixel and fancy making some noise? With this suitably named app, swipe and tap grids of brightly coloured notes and drum pads to construct your next chart-troubler.
4 Adobe Scan
£free / Android, IOS Yes, it’s yet another app that turns your smartphone into a kind-ofscanner. But this one doesn’t make you pay for OCR, should you want to quickly copy the text from a scan and fling it elsewhere.
7 No Stick Shooter
£1.99 / Android, IOS Recalling classic shooters such as Missile Command, No Stick Shooter dispenses with traditional controls to have you tap like a loon. Best played on a tablet while endlessly yelling NYYAAAHHHHHH!
2 Taskzy
£free / Android Automation based on context: with Taskzy, you can set a podcast to fire up when you’re cycling, or a game when you get home. Walking to the station in pouring rain? Set it to play your ‘I wish a had a car’ playlist.
5 Old Man’s Journey
£4.59 / Android £4.99 / IOS O Lurking in the grey area between interactive story and game, Old Man’s Journey has you bend hills and roads in order to urge an old geezer onwards, while occasionally nosying into his memories.
8 icycle
£2.29 / Android In this oddball platformer, Dennis finds himself pedalling naked through a surreal post-apocalyptic nightmare. Eye-popping and challenging – and that’s just the bit where you kiss the fish.
3 Up the Wall
£free / Android, IOS An auto-runner with brains and a sadistic streak, Up the Wall has you take on hand-crafted tracks (playing as anything from a rubber duck to a skull in hell), darting left and right to avoid certain death.
6 Blink – Quick Memo
99p / IOS For times when every other list app seems too feature-packed, there’s Blink. You get a single page, to which you add items that you can colour to create alarms. That’s it. Jony Ive, eat your heart out.
9 Clarity
£free / IOS Weirdly named given that the app’s about obscuring images, Clarity can take a photo and blur it into submission, readying it to become iphone wallpaper. There are colour gradient and mask options too.
