Samsung’s smartphone cameras are famous for filling your snaps with colour, sometimes over-enthusiastically, but that’s not a problem when your subject matter is edible. There are no clever gimmicks here, no dual lenses or extra sensors, just an excellent 12MP f/1.7 camera with optical image stabilisation and super-quick dual-pixel autofocus that’s had some software tweaks to get the very best out of it.

Greens come out especially lush, and auto-hdr almost always gets exposures right for the contrast of highlights and shadows. It’s decent in low light too, so even those moody restaurants that make you dine in the dark won’t be off limits for your Insta account.
