That’s a funny-looking fixie.

Fixie? You’re not in Shoreditch now. This aerodynamic triathlon kit is designed to shave seconds off your PB – so you can go easier on the swim training. Rather than trimming grams off existing bikes, Cervelo designed a two-wheeled machine from the ground up to suit the every need of tri triers.

It doesn’t look very comfortable.

Winning doesn’t happen when you’re comfortable. When have you seen one of the Brownlee brothers toddle over the finish line with a smile and a sweat-free brow? The P5x is built for optimal, well, everything. Which means it’ll bring out your absolute best. Cervelo’s engineers pored over reams of wind-tunnel data to nail the ride position, but there’s also in-built tweakability to ensure this bike (available in four sizes) can be perfected for your position.

But where are the cables?

Hidden, of course. You can’t have wayward wires slowing you down as you go for triathlon glory, which is why everything from the brake lines to the on-bike storage boxes have been integrated within the aero-focused frame. Notice how the front wheel sits really close to the frame? That’s to reduce drag by hiding the downtube in the wake of the front wheel.

How do I get it to the cycle stand?

In the optional travel case (£599), naturally. Cervelo knows there’s more to winning than the race day itself, which is why the P5x can be slotted neatly into a wheely container developed by Biknd. Roll it in, collapse the handlebars and internal airbags will keep your steed perfectly cushioned, whether the race is in Cheltenham or China.
