GUESS THE O.S.
Everything featured here might be brand spanking new, but that doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed to get the latest software when you rip them out of their boxes.
Only Google’s Pixel 2 XL is running Android 8.0 Oreo; the rest of the Android handsets are stuck on the previous version, 7.1 Nougat. Samsung and LG are working on their respective software updates now, but when you’ll get them depends on your network – worst case, you could be waiting until next summer.
Apple has more control over its updates, so the iphone X will arrive with IOS 11 – the same software currently on the iphone 8 and 8 Plus. Apps behave differently here from how they do on those more traditional phones, though, on account of the missing home button and that notch – you’ll have to keep an eye out for app updates that add better support if your faves don’t quite look right. follow Tom: @Tommorgan3
