Apple Watch SE
from £209 / go.stuff.tv/watchse
The SE is easily the best-value Apple Watch. It tracks sleep and all the exercise you need, supports Apple Pay, works great with your iphone and… what more do most people require? The user experience is broadly identical, and while the screen bezels are a bit larger than on the Series 9 it’s hard to tell them apart without getting right up close. Note also that your SE will now be carbon-neutral if you take it with a Sport Loop (unless you choose one of the fancy multicoloured options). Stuff says ★★★★★

Garmin Fenix 7

If your budget stretches, the impressive mix of rugged durability, serious battery endurance, excellent navigation skills and smartwatch features makes this the best all-round sports watch you can buy.

Samsung Galaxy Watch6 Classic
from £294 / go.stuff.tv/watch6classic
There are no major leaps forward here… but with a more traditional timepiece vibe as well as that distinctive rotating bezel, the Watch6 Classic brings some welcome variety back to the Samsung lineup.

Apple Watch Series 9
★★★★✩ from £399 / go.stuff.tv/watchs9 The S9 chip brings longevity, and we like the new one-handed double-tap gesture.
Mobvoi Ticwatch Pro 5
★★★★✩ £230 / go.stuff.tv/tp5
A long-lasting Wear OS watch with a fitness focus, but it’s not the best in software terms.
