About Me i’m Laurie reay, 33, and i have a business called ruby summers Country home, painting and restoring furniture. i live with my husband Ben, 35, a paramedic, and our three children riley, 9, ruby, 7, and Flinn, 4.

My home A three-bedroom Victorian mid-terrace house in highbridge, somerset, bought in June 2014.

When I bought It the place felt dark and dingy. there were brown carpets everywhere, and garish, modern wallpapers.

And now we’ve painted every room and changed almost all the flooring. the scheme is mainly white, with dots of pretty pastels, so the house is full of light and seems much larger now. there’s a casual, country feel, with lots of upcycled furniture and unusual, one-off pieces.

Style tip Keep an eye out for old furniture that’s good quality, and paint it for a fresh look. try to see beyond how it looks and imagine what you can do to give it a brand-new vibe.
