About Me I’m Katie Sutton, 39, an event stylist (thevintagehousethat could.blogspot.co.uk). I live with my husband Martin, 46, our daughter Olivia, 15, son Kian, 9, and Slinky the sausage dog.

My home A three-bedroom, semi-detached Victorian mill worker’s cottage in Birmingham that we bought in October 2005.

When I bought It The house was in a good condition as its previous owner was a builder and had done a lot of work on it, including adding an extension. Inside, there were beige carpets and colours that made the house feel quite dark and dull.

And now The bathroom and kitchen have been revamped and the house is light and bright with white walls and wood floors. I’ve finished it using painted furniture and decorated with vintage treasures.

Style tip Never have anything in your house that you don’t consider to be beautiful or useful.
