About Me i’m Petra Burton, 35, a behavioural therapist, and i live with my husband Luke, 36, and our two children, William, 8, and Sofia, 6, in our three-bedroom semidetached house in middlesex.

My challenge We instantly fell in love with this house but knew it needed lots of work to make it ours. my main priority was to create a big enough space for our large family table so we could enjoy meals together. the old kitchen was also separated from the rest of the living space, but i preferred open plan.

My wish list i wanted a family kitchen everyone could enjoy and which was connected to the rest of the living area. the kitchen hadn’t been updated for over 30 years and i was after a fresh new look with a warm and inviting farmhouse finish.
