‘I’ve mixed up prints for A vi­brant look’

Crafty touches, clever shop­ping and a pas­sion for pat­tern helped Stylist at Home Su­san­nah, 42, dec­o­rate her colour­ful fam­ily home

his house is quite dif­fer­ent from our pre­vi­ous place, which was an older prop­erty with orig­i­nal fea­tures such as fire­places, cor­nic­ing and tiles,’ says Su­san­nah. ‘it was a beau­ti­ful home, but it had a small gar­den and the lo­ca­tion wasn’t con­ve­nient, so i was keen to move some­where nearer the chil­dren’s school and with more out­side space.

I looked at quite a few prop­er­ties. Some had been ren­o­vated but weren’t to my taste, whereas this one hadn’t been touched for a long time. It had a good­sized gar­den and lovely big win­dows that

Get­ting go­ing

I al­ways knew I’d make ma­jor changes to the ground floor. The orig­i­nal lay­out was tra­di­tional, with glazed doors di­vid­ing the liv­ing room and din­ing area, and a small separate kitchen. I didn’t par­tic­u­larly need a large space for cook­ing, but I liked the idea of a more fam­ily-friendly down­stairs space for our kids, Dewi and Gwen­nan.
