50cm long piece of wood 140cm leather belt blank, £4.95, ebay Hemline punch plier, £12, Hobbycraft Scissors & ruler 3M Command medium hooks, £3.99 for two, 3M Direct

Use sandpaper to remove any rough edges from the piece of wood and ensure it has a smooth finish. Cut the leather belt blank in half and measure 2cm from each end for where the holes will go. Make a hole at each end using punch pliers. You can widen the holes as needed by punching a little more from around the first hole. Hang the leather straps in place on your wall hooks and slot the piece of wood between the loops to finish. Take care not to overload the shelf.
