About Me I’m Jillian Donaldson, 46, and I live in a three-bed 1950s detached villa in Belfast with my husband Jim, 55, who works in It, and our sons Jack, 8, and Ryan, 7. My challenge We loved this house because of its location, but even though the kitchen had been extended in the past, it was still too small for us. I’d dreamt of a freestanding kitchen for years. they’ve always appealed to me as they look so relaxed and casual, but it’s difficult to get the finish right and unify the whole scheme. My wish list as the boys were getting older I was keen to have a large family space where we could all spend quality time together. I wanted to create a kitchen-diner/ living room so the boys could do their homework while I prepared dinner. We knew it would be a perfect area for entertaining, too.
