How to


Paint­brush & pen­cil 20 x 20cm stretched can­vas, £2.50, hob­by­craft acrylic paints in your colour choice, from £2, hob­by­craft Pack of as­sorted but­tons (colours and sizes to suit your cho­sen project), from £3 for 250g, Docrafts UHU glue, £3, hob­by­craft coloured twine or rib­bon, if needed for your de­sign

1Use a pen­cil to roughly mark out your de­sign on the can­vas if nec­es­sary (we did this for the tree and heart de­signs). Paint the back­ground colour us­ing acrylic paints or leave blank. lay out the but­tons on a flat sur­face and pick the colours and sizes you’ll need to cre­ate your cho­sen de­sign. Play around with the com­po­si­tion un­til you’re happy with how it looks.

2Us­ing a small dot of UHU glue on the back of each but­ton, stick each one in place and hold for a few sec­onds to se­cure. Con­tinue this process, adding but­tons to your can­vas and building up the de­sign. Over­lap but­tons to cre­ate even more im­pact and fix rib­bon or twine for ex­tra de­tail.
