Painted feather Pictures

Try painting some plumage and framing it

Large white American-style feathers, £3 for 6, Hobbycraft White feather quills, £1.50 for 20, Hobbycraft Newspaper Fine paintbrush­es Decoart Crafters acrylic paint in navy, red, grey and yellow, £1.50 each, Hobbycraft Picture frames Glue

1 Place some feathers on the newspaper. Working with one paint colour at a time, follow the lines of each feather to paint on your designs, adding other colours until you’re happy with the patterns. 2 Remove the glass from the frames and coat the frame in paint. Apply two or three coats as necessary, allowing paint to dry between coats. When the feathers are completely dry, use a dab of glue to stick them on to paper. Pop in the frame.

Get creative with different paint effects and colours to decorate the feathers and try layering them up within the frame
