Make it! Wire Wall shelving unit

1 Find a wire mesh basket that’s light, a practical size to be wall-mounted and has straight sides.

2 Working outside on a dust sheet, spray the basket all over with copper spray paint (try Montana gold Can in Copper, £7.50, hobbycraft) and leave to dry. apply a second coat to ensure even coverage.

3 turn the basket so the flat back is against the wall and mark where the nails will need to go to hold it in place – we suggest one in each corner and one in the middle if it’s large.

4 Check between the marks with a spirit level to make sure it’ll be straight then hammer nails into the wall and hang your basket to use as a shelf.
