Do it! upcycle a Wash stand

-

1 rub down the surface of the unit with medium-grain sandpaper to give it a smooth finish if necessary then wipe all over with a damp cloth to make sure it’s dust-free before painting.

2 apply two coats of furniture paint, leaving to dry between coats. you may need to use a layer of primer first too, depending on the surface you’re painting. once the paint is dry, use a durable wax to finish the unit and give it an extra protective layer to help it withstand bathroom conditions.

3 if, like Carrie, your unit has a high back panel, use leftover tiles to create a splashback. Measure and cut the tiles to size using a tile cutter, then use tile adhesive and spacers to fit them into place. leave to dry thoroughly before grouting.
