Find inspiration in the shops, then recreate the look at home. Pompoms and tassels made from yarn are an easy and inexpensive way to give standard baskets or cushions a new look – and you can choose colours that will coordinate with your scheme.

PLANT A JUNGLE

Houseplants add colour, texture and interest. Pop them in chic containers and planters to ramp up the style – paint patterns onto terracotta pots, or hide unsightly plastic pots in baskets (don’t forget to add a saucer for excess water). Smaller plants are great grouped on a surface, or choose a tall plant to fill an empty corner.

DECORATE UNDERFOOT

Stuck with carpets or flooring that can’t be replaced? cover them with rugs to add texture and eye-catching patterns – black and white stripes or zigzags are great for recreating Louise’s tribal look.
