Make it! wash board SHELF
1 Gently sand a vintage wooden washboard (check out antiques centres and car boot sales to find one of these), then rub it down to remove any dust and dirt. 2 Apply one or two coats of clear, matt varnish to strengthen the surface of the board, allowing it to dry out completely between coats. Sand lightly before adding a second coat to help the varnish go on evenly. 3 Mark and drill a pair of cast iron shelving brackets (try Cast in Style, which has a wide range of metal brackets) in place, equally spaced, on the underside of the washboard. 4 Attach the finished shelf to the bathroom wall using screws through the brackets and use to display your favourite prettiest vintage bottles, signs and candles, like Sarah and Karl have.
