Do it! patch heart cushion

1 Draw a 10x10cm heart on a piece of paper either freehand or using a free online template.

2 Use the template to cut nine hearts from printed cotton fabrics. Cut two 45x45cm squares from plain cotton fabric.

3 Place one fabric heart in the centre of one plain square and pin in place. Sew around the edges using hand stitch or a zigzag stitch on a sewing machine.

4 Repeat, adding fabric hearts 2cm apart until you have three rows of three.

5 Place the other square of plain fabric on top of the first so that it covers the hearts. Pin around the edges, then sew the top and sides with a 1cm seam. Turn out, then insert a cushion pad. Hand sew the remaining open edge closed.
