DAVIS: MORE CHAPTERS TO WRITE IN FAIRYTALE

- Paul Brown Jim Holden

SLOVAKIA star Robert Mak plans to score past former club-mate Joe Hart tomorrow and then say: “Remember me?”

Winger Mak, 25, was in Manchester City’s youth academy at the time Hart was emerging as the club’s No1 and he can’t wait to meet up with the England keeper in St Etienne.

Mak, who now plays for PAOK in Greece, says the pair have lost touch but he plans to give Hart a reminder of his quality.

He said: “I loved my time in Manchester. I went there when I was 15 and it was very hard for me to leave my family at home.

“Looking back, I can say that City taught me how to play football.

“I was there until I was 18 or 19 and that made me the player I am. They gave me a lot of good qualities and hopefully I can show that against England.

“I don’t know Joe Hart very well. I only know him to say ‘hello’, so hopefully I can score against him and then he will remember me more.”

Mak never played for City’s first team but he was part of their FA Youth Cup-winning team of 2008, playing alongside Daniel Sturridge and fellow Slovak Vladimir Weiss.

He added: “We have shocked many people by beating Russia and now we hope we can do the same against England.” ADAM LALLANA says his Liverpool team-mate Daniel Sturridge is back to his fittest and has proved his importance to England.

Striker Sturridge (right) justified his selection after an injury-hit season as he scored the winner against Wales and Lallana said: “That was the fittest I have seen him for a while, even including towards the back end of the season for Liverpool. “He just seems to be getting fitter and fitter and he was looking very dangerous against Wales, which is great. He showed what a vital player he is for us.”
