CROWD TROUBLE HALTS BURNLEY GAME
WEST BROM have made an enquiry about signing Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen. The Dutch frontman (left) scored six times for Tottenham last season but has struggled to find his best form since arriving in London. And a switch to the Midlands could provide his career with a much-needed kick-start. Meanwhile, West Ham United could gazump Stoke City for Juventus midfielder Mario Lemina. Mark Hughes has spoken to the Italians about the Gabon star and is also keen on £15million Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend. MANCHESTER CITY have sold Brazilian midfielder Fernando to Galatasaray for £4.75million. Fernando joined City for £12m from Porto in 2014 and made 101 appearances for the club. The 30-year-old (left) said: “City have looked after me incredibly well throughout my time here and I have enjoyed the challenge of playing for a top team in probably the world’s toughest league. “The League Cup success of 2016 was a highlight for me and something I will never forget.” Fernando signed a three-year deal with the Turkish side. WATFORD are ready to splash £15million on Liverpool full-back Alberto Moreno.
Napoli wanted to sign the Spaniard at the start of the summer but the Reds rejected an £11m bid and will not let Moreno leave on the cheap. Moreno, 25, has since given Kop boss Jurgen Klopp food for thought with some impressive pre-season performances. But Andrew Robertson’s £10m arrival from Hull, and the option of the versatile James Milner covering at left-back, leaves Moreno well down the pecking order. SOUTH KOREA’S IK Kim will take a commanding lead into the final round of the Ricoh Women’s British Open after a late collapse from England’s Georgia Hall.
Kim carded a third round of 66 at Kingsbarns to finish 17 under par, six shots ahead of Hall, 21, and Thailand’s Moriya Jutanugarn, with Olympic champion Inbee Park and American Ally McDonald a shot further back.
Six birdies in the first 12 holes had taken Kim into a six-shot lead only for playing partner Hall (left) – who had earlier driven the green on the fifth to set up an eagle – to birdie the 13th, 14th and 15th. However, Hall then bogeyed the 16th and four-putted the 17th for a double-bogey six to card a two-under-par 70. “I played a lot better than two under, just on 17 I could hardly see the green,” Hall said. “I thought I hit a good shot but ended up with a very hard putt and the green is so steep.” THE Lionesses suffered Euro 17 heartbreak but have lifted English women’s football into “a different stratosphere” says head coach Mark Sampson.
