Nuno: Ref right to send me off

- By MATCH FACTS

WOLVES’ boss Nuno Espirito Santo backed referee Chris Kavanagh’s decision to send him off after his side’s thrilling win over Leicester.

The Portuguese charged down the touchline to celebrate his side’s stoppage-time winner.

Diogo Jota rammed home in the 93rd-minute to clinch the points and his hat-trick, and Nuno said: “It’s the law, but I was just full of emotion. I was happy!

“To finish the game like that gave me tremendous happiness.

“It wasn’t bad or disrespectful, I was just so happy and it was difficult to contain.”

Nuno now faces an FA rap but he’ll happily pay any fine after the sheer joy of Wolves’ grandstand finish.

Jota had steered home a close-range volley after four minutes to give Wolves the lead and 10 minutes later Ryan Bennett got above Harry Maguire to head home a second.

Credit to Leicester, they came out all guns blazing after the break and within two minutes pulled one back through Demarai Gray.

They were level within minutes when a Harvey Barnes shot deflected in off Conor Coady – but not for long. Jota raced on to a sublime 50yard pass from Ruben Neves and drilled it in via Kasper Schmeichel’s legs.

When Wes Morgan

Wolves 4 Leicester 3 David Armitage

headed them level again right on time, it looked to be enough but Wolves – and that man Jota – had other ideas.

Jota, a £12million signing from Atletico Madrid, said: “In a game like this when you win like that you feel like the greatest man in the

world.
