Fears over the disappearance of two students

- By Daniel Hammond

FEARS were growing last night for the welfare of two university students who failed to return home during the freezing weather and snow.

Libby Squire, 21, was spotted getting into a taxi in Hull at around 11pm on Thursday after she was refused entry to the Welly Club.

She was later seen walking half a mile away 45 minutes later when a man got out of his car to try to help her. Humberside Police stressed that the man is “not a suspect”.

A spokesman said the man had long grey hair and a beard – and was driving a silver Citroen car, possibly a Xsara or Picasso model.

Her mother Lisa made a Facebook plea yesterday, writing: “I’m broken without my pie. Libby Squire come home.” More than 250 students searched the University of Hull campus last night in an effort to find her. They joined more than 50 officers combing the streets and nearby woodland.

She is described as 5ft 7in with shoulder-length brown hair, wearing a black long-sleeved top, leather jacket and black denim skirt with lace.

The second missing student is 19-year-old Daniel Williams who was last seen around midnight on Wednesday in a student union bar on the Whiteknights campus at the University of Reading.

The computer science student was reported missing after disappearing in the early hours of Thursday. He was described as 6ft, slim build, with short light brown hair and blue eyes.
